A MEMBER of the so-called Frankley Killers gang has been jailed after he arranged and filmed a shooting at a rival's home.

Jamie Wood videoed the sawn-off shotgun blast at a house in Coriander Close, Frankley, on the night of February 20 last year, following a long-running conflict with a feuding gang member.

The 23-year-old filmed from a getaway car, where voices could heard urging the shooter to 'slide it back' and 'give it a good bang'.

West Midlands Police raided Wood's home in Wasdale Road, Northfield, on March 2, catching him as he slept.

His Apple iPhone was seized and, although Wood refused to disclose the pass-code, it was later found to contain video footage of the shooting, plus photos and text messages linking him to gang activity.

Unemployed Wood claimed he wasn't in possession of the phone on the night, and denied being part of the attack.

But detectives uncovered evidence proving he was using the phone in the build-up to the shooting.

Wood later admitted conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He was jailed for three years and eight months at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday, April 18.

The judge described Wood as a 'violent gang member', adding: "You made the choice to join a gang; that was your choice alone and you knew the risks. You basked in violence and you knew the risks.”

Detective Sergeant Alan Teague, from the Birmingham Gangs and Organised Crime Unit, said: “Wood didn’t pull the trigger but we proved he was involved in the shooting and, we suspect, orchestrated the attack.

"Anyone linked to gang violence and firearms needs to take note of this sentencing: we don’t need to find you with a gun or show you’ve fired a weapon in order to secure long prison sentences.

“Noone was injured but clearly discharging a firearm in public is a hugely reckless act and one that could have fatal consequences.

“Wood is linked to gangs in Birmingham and this shooting stemmed from a conflict that had been playing out for up to two years.

"This is the latest in a series of convictions secured against people linked to gang activity."

Wood is one of 16 men in the south Birmingham area subject to gang injunctions that ban them from associating with each other and entering large parts of the city.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man shown in the video firing the shotgun, plus another man believed to have been in the car at the time
