BROMSGROVE Sporting chairman Mike Burke heaped praise on manager Brendan Kelly and his players after the club were crowned Midland League champions this week.

A buoyant Burke paid tribute to Kelly after he took over the reins at short notice following the sudden departure of former boss Paul Smith past the mid-way mark of the season.

Burke claimed: " I can't put it into words how delighted I am after the turmoil that Brendan came into.

"He managed to hit the ground running and the players that he has brought in have made all the difference.

"When I first took over as chairman, I told everyone that I wanted Bromsgrove Sporting to be playing in two leagues higher by 2020 but we've achieved it quicker than I expected.

"But now we want to achieve more.

"The amount of supporters we have at the moment just goes to show what a big club Bromsgrove Sporting is. But there is scope for more support.

"There is so much excitement going on at the ground at the moment, that I don't want people to miss out.

"We're not going up to the next level just to make up the numbers, we're going in it to win it and we'll make sure Brendan gets all the support he needs".
