A REDDITCH woman is to climb to the base camp of Mount Everest as part of a fundraising challenge.

Tasneem Ahmed is tackling the Everest Base Camp Challenge in October to raise money for the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal.

The 17-day trek will see her battle altitude sickness and climb more than 5,000 metres up the world's tallest mountain.

Tasneem, who works in cancer diagnosis in Arizona after leaving Redditch last year, has raised over half of her £4,800 target.

Redditch Advertiser:

She said: "I have managed to raise a significant amount to date but am short of my target.

"I do not use social media platforms so am adamant to prove that this can be done without social media support."

This is not Tasneem's first charity event.

In 2016 she took part in a 5km run to help raise money for Redditch's Alexandra Hospital, finishing as fastest women in the process.

This time the money will go towards funding cancer treatment for patients in Pakistan.
