Blind centre's help plea

12:04pm Sunday 4th May 2008

A centre which provides vital help to blind people across the borough is seeking new volunteers to help its collections team.

Beacon Centre for the Blind is appealing for people to help it raise much needed funds, so it can continue providing support to blind and partially sighted people living in the boroughs of Dudley, Sandwell, Wolverhampton and Staffordshire.

The centre on Wolverhampton Road East aims to improve the lives of people of all ages, by offering day care, residential care, social and recreational activities.

Emma Macaulay, volunteer co-ordinator said: "Volunteers are essential to the running of the Beacon Centre, as a charity organisation, and their commitment is hugely appreciated by the staff and service users."

If you are interested in offering a couple of hours a month to collect for the charity, contact Emma or Karen Gullick at the centre on 01902 880111.
