A woman who died in a road traffic collision near Hagley yesterday afternoon has been named as Heather Linley, a senior member of staff at Stourbridge College.
Miss Linley, aged 48, from Redditch, died at the scene of the collision, which happened at about 7.25pm yesterday, Thursday May 1, on the A491.
A police spokesman said her blue Volkswagen Golf was heading towards Bromsgrove when she lost control.
The vehicle crossed over the central reservation and was in collision with a white Ford Mondeo travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Ford Mondeo, a 44-year-old Stourbridge woman, was uninjured.
Lynette Cutting, Stourbridge College principal said: "It was with deep sadness that we heard the tragic news of the death of our colleague Heather Linley.
"Over the years Heather has performed a number of senior roles, she joined the college in 1998 as team leader for Science and Horticulture, in 2005 she became Director of Curriculum and Quality.
"Those who knew and worked with Heather could not fail to be impressed with the level of professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm she brought to any task she undertook.
"With her knowledge and expertise she constantly strived to ensure that we maintained the very best provision for our students.
"She was a lively and animated speaker who inspired the very best in others with her humour and vision.
"Heather will be deeply missed and on behalf of the college Governors and members of staff I would like to offer our deepest condolences to Heather's family."
