Fun run set for revival next month

JOGGERS are being urged to take to the streets and raise cash for their own charities when Wordsley's traditional fun run is revived next month.

The popular race, which starts and finishes in King George V Park in Bells Lane, takes place on Wednesday June 11 - ahead of the main Wordsley Festival event on Saturday June 14.

People can run or walk the two-mile course, raising money for their own chosen charities along the way.

Festival chairman Nigel Morley added: "We wanted to keep the fun run as it's an intergal part of the festival. People can walk, run or bring pushchairs or dogs along."

Starting at 7.45pm, the race will see trophies awarded to the fastest male and female past the finish line and there will be medals for all finishers.

Organiser Roger Szygowski said: "It's a fun run - so we want the people of Wordsley to support the event irrespective of ability."

The entry fee is £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for under 16s and senior citizens.

Any sponsorship money raised can be donated to a charity of the entrant's choice.

To enter simply send your name, address, phone number and daye of birth, plus an SAE and the correct fee payable to Wordsley Festival Group, to Roger Szygowski, 4J Lion Street, Stourbridge DY8 1UE.

Last-minute runners can enter on the day, but must register by 7.15pm.
