A GROUP of Dudley children had an exciting day out as they travelled to London to meet the Children's Commissioner for England and help launch a national website.
Fourteen children and young people, aged between eight and 15, who are members of the Dudley Decision Making Kids group worked with other youngsters across England to develop the 11 MILLION website.
The site is designed especially for children and allows them to post their views about what matters to them the most. The Commissioner, Sir Al Aynsley-Green will then use the views to influence Government decisions about children's lives.
The launch took place in the capital city at The Museum of Childhood - and four children from Dudley made speeches about their involvement in the website.
The group were involved in all aspects of creating the website from creating ideas to writing its content.
Throughout the busy day, the children took part in workshops and had the chance to look around the museum, before taking part in the speeches. Following the unveiling the children were also had the chance to meet the Commissioner and have their photographs taken with him.
John Freeman, director of Dudley children's service's said: "I am delighted the children were able to take part in the launch of this exciting new website following their hard work in the development of this site.
"I am sure this experience has been invaluable and I would like to thank the children and the members of staff who have supported them."
