BIG-hearted runners will be hitting the pavements of Kidderminster this weekend in memory of a 33-year-old personal trainer who was killed in a motorcycle accident in January.

Paul Meese, of Hawfinch Rise, died when his Honda motorbike was in collision with a car in Spennells, leaving his wife, Dorice and three daughters, Kayleigh, 14, Chloe, nine, and Lauryn, seven.

He worked at Fitness First in Kidderminster and his colleagues have organised a 6km fun run/walk for Saturday to generate cash for RoadPeace, which helps to support road accident victims and their relatives.

Member services manager, Melloney Osborne, said: "Paul meant a lot to the members and staff.

"He really gave a lot to the club and it was a big tragedy, especially as he had three little girls.

"We want to make sure we have a really good day so everyone can remember him."

The sponsored event, which will kick off at noon, has been named Turkey Run in honour of one of Mr Meese's favourite sayings.

Ms Osborne explained: "He used to call people "you turkey".

"It was one of the things he used to say a lot. Everyone who knew Paul would know it was one of his sayings.

"One of the girls at Fitness First will be dressing up as a turkey for the run and anyone is welcome to wear turkey accessories."

Mr Meese, who landed his "dream job" at Fitness First last year, had trained at Kidderminster College and rubbed shoulders with Kidderminster Harriers players.

The fitness fanatic had been a member of the Samurai Judo Club, which meets in Lisle Avenue in Kidderminster, for around two years and had progressed to brown belt.

He was also a keen runner and took part in a 10km charity race at Stourport with his wife.

He also encouraged his family to participate in judo activities and had planned to take part in future charity events.

Registration forms for Turkey Run are available from the front desk at Fitness First in Foley Grove, Foley Park and there is a £5 entry fee for the event.
