AN all-sports fun day could be held every year in Droitwich after the success of a second charity cricket event.

Droitwich Mayor Richard Morris said the idea had been suggested after dozens of people turned out for the event, organised between himself and Droitwich Cricket Club on Monday, May 5.

Eight teams of six players battled against each other in a tournament cheered on by more than 100 spectators.

Coun Morris said: "We are mulling over the idea of doing it annually.

"We are considering including rugby and football and maybe next year having a range of sports and having a festival of sports in Droitwich.

"It was a really good day."

Coun Morris said his team lost all three games with the Droitwich Boys and Girls football A team finally being crowned overall winners.

Those watching enjoyed food and drinks and a raffle which included signed England and Warwickshire shirts donated by Droitwich cricket star Ashley Giles.

Proceeds from the day will be split between the mayor's charities and the cricket club.
