RESIDENTS are being warned about websites selling counterfeit GHD hair products.
Worcestershire County Council’s Trading Standards team has received six complaints in the last month about the purchase of fake GHD hair straighteners and officers are asking people to be especially cautious when it comes to the website www.ghdhair-online.com, which is based in China.
It falsely claims to be the official GHD website and similar counterfeit products have also been found on online auction sites, including ebay.
The complaints have prompted officers to ask people to be vigilant to help make sure others are not left out of pocket.
Peter Holmes, the council's principal trading standards officer, said: "GHD hair straighteners are high-value products, which have unfortunately been targeted by counterfeiters.
"Consumers should always purchase these goods from a reputable approved source as bargains on the internet are not always what they seem. People should be particularly vigilant when websites offering bargain prices are based abroad."
Anyone wishing to report a possible counterfeit goods problem can contact Peter Holmes on 01905 765394 or email pholmes@worcestershire.gov.uk.
The Trading Standards team has a new website at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/tradingstandards, which has information for consumer and businesses.
