YOUNGSTERS from two Wyre Forest schools attended a Show Racism the Red Card event at Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club.
The King Charles High and Stourport High School and VIth Form Centre pupils took part in fun educational activities and got the chance to question a panel of footballers about racism in the game when they visited Molineux Stadium on Tuesday.
The youngsters also enjoyed a tour of the stadium and watched the Show Racism the Red Card DVD featuring footballers such as Thierry Henry, Samuel Eto’o, Lilian Thuram, Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand and Didier Drogba.
They all talked about their experiences of racism and offered advice on how to deal with and combat it Ged Grebby, chief executive at Show Racism the Red Card said: “We are delighted to be working with Wolverhampton Wanderers for this event; it illustrates the club’s commitment to tackling racism and will show young people that there is no room for racism in football or in society.
“One of the best ways to change racist attitudes is for role models, such as professional footballers, to engage with young people on the issues and present an anti-racist message.”
