I WAS really annoyed to read recently in the press that Dudley Councillors were to receive an increase to their salaries/ expenses.

It amazes me that the council keeps reminding everybody about financial cut backs and has no money available for essential services, including the retention of New Bradley Hall Residential Care Home for the elderly Kingswinford, yet they can find the money to line their own pockets out of ratepayers’ money.

I am a member of a group of dedicated people who over the last two years have been trying to save NBH when Dudley Council were trying to close this wonderful Dudley Council Care home.

Dudley Council now have stated that NBH is to be either sold or given away to a 'not for profit'

organisation because the council can not finance the future running of the home.

What is happening at Dudley Council when they say that they have to drastically cut back on spending and in the next breath give themselves an increase in their salaries and expenses.

Can Dudley Council please put the lives of the most vulnerable elderly people in Dudley before pay increase for themselves.

Not many years ago people put themselves forward for nomination as councillors because they wanted to serve their community and only received minimum expenses not like today when they receive a salary and expenses.
