In 2010 David Cameron signed a “contract” with the British public, his promise on immigration read thus. We will control immigration, reducing it “to the level of the 1990’s- meaning tens of thousands a year”, instead of hundreds of thousands a year under Labour.
No ifs, no buts.
Figures released this week show immigration running twenty thousand higher than it was when he signed the contract, any fool could have told him(God knows Nigel Farage tried) that whilst we are members of the European Union operating a policy allowing free movement of people across twenty eight countries it was always doomed to failure. Next year read the small print perchance you find the contract reveals itself to be more “con trick” than contract.
