THE front page of your paper for the February 5 shows ‘A battle to retain our pubs’. The proposals for Oldswinford are ridiculous as are those for Kingswinford.

The battle really is to keep out even more ‘convenience stores’.

The proposal for the Bridge Inn at Kingswinford should be turned down on traffic grounds alone, it stands almost opposite a Tesco Express and petrol station on the main road.

That for the Old Court House (a listed building) on a severe bend on the main road to Dudley beggars belief.

Although the car park is large the access is extremely poor and within a few hundred yards going north there is a BP garage selling food and going to the centre of Kingswinford is the main Co-op store.

Within about one mile of Kingswinford Cross there are 8 grocery outlets. Common sense must show that no more are needed.

I hope that all the local residents make their thoughts known to the local councillors especially with an election coming up.
