Responding to Labour’s pledge to fund 8000 more GPs and repeal The Health and Social Care Act, Pete Lowe, Labour Parliamentary candidate for Stourbridge says; “As a qualified nurse I understand the importance of a well-funded NHS that delivers health care free at the point of delivery. David Cameron promised no more top down reorganisations in 2010 and broke that promise as soon as he got into power and wasted £3 billion on a top down reorganisation that puts profits before patients.

In Stourbridge, I will campaign to ensure that the NHS services for our residents are up there with the best in the country so that people can see their GP within 48 hours and on the same day if they need it.

The Labour Party has also pledged that people will be able to get cancer tests within 1 week funded by a levy on tobacco companies.

I know a lot of Stourbridge residents have raised concerns about access to the new Lion Health Centre and I pledge to work with Lion Health Centre, local residents, Dudley Council and public transport providers to find a solution.

Having worked at Corbett Hospital, I understand the importance of high quality local health services and if elected I will lobby government to protect and expand services at Corbett Hospital as well as ensuring that Russell’s Hall Hospital in Dudley provides the very best NHS care to the residents of Stourbridge.

Since coming to power in 2010, the Tory led coalition has created an NHS crisis that has seen over 19,000 people wait longer than four hours in A&E at Russell’s Hall and there are over 1200 more people on NHS waiting lists compared to 2010. The choice at this election is clear, a better, properly funded NHS under Labour or continued dismantling of our NHS leading to longer waiting times, worse outcomes and failing hospitals.
