Having read your article in the Stourbridge News regarding the ‘trying times’ at Stourton park I feel I must reply with the following comments.

Firstly, I myself have been a fully paid up member of Stourbridge Rugby Club for the last Eighteen years. In this time I have never heard of a Mr. Robin Edwards. You say in your article he has been a member for Forty years. If this is the case, how is it that I have never seen, spoken or heard of this person along with many other members.

I attend social functions as well as the Rugby at Stourbridge Rugby Club which have always been a driving force for members and non members to mix with all levels of attendee’s on a social basis. I have never known Robin Edwards support any such function whereas members of the current Committee turn out frequently.

I believe that Stourbridge Rugby Club is now in a better position financially and socially under the current committee than it has been in previous years. How can we as members vote or have any support for a person who is not known or seen to be supporting the club.

As I support the club continually I appreciate that times change and inevitably we must take on board changes that will occur. We all would like to see Stourbridge Rugby Club improve, however, going back to the way the club had been run Twenty years ago, I feel is not the way forward. Stourbridge Rugby Club is a social venue and not an Old Boys Club. it offers more than ‘Just a Rugby Club’ and Mr Edwards should think about other aspects of the club that brings in revenue and keeps the club at the standard it is at.
