Over and over again I hear radio interviewees saying “When will the politicians give us the facts?”.

The fact is that there are very few facts and even those can be tailored by either faction to support their case. All else is conjecture and confusion.

So with what are we left?

Observations, experiences and gut feelings.

My conclusions regarding EU are culled from personal experience of 25 years of working as a landscape painter in the 20th Century Battlefields of Europe, observations of European and World events during the late 20th and early 21st Century and the compromises involved in bringing up of three children as a single parent (there are parallels!) History shows that fragmentation is the first phase of an ever repeating cycle of deteriorating human behaviour which follows an invariable pattern; fragmentation, euphoria, disillusion, dissention, insecurity, animosity, extremism and political / social chaos.

The militant separatists appear oblivious to the dangers and are intent on repeating the mistakes of the past for their own short sighted, self-centred ends. Like peevish children obsessed with their own immediate demands, they combine their unconscious or cleverly disguised prejudices with a desire to become big fish in small ponds.
50 years of peace have lulled many into complacency and a false sense of security couldn’t happen here but I would ask the Separatists to consider what their attitude would now be towards the Scots had they voted to break up the United Kingdom.
The EU situation is exactly the same!
If the Separatists think that our European Neighbours would smile and blithely carry on as if nothing had happened after we had unilaterally undermined their strength and security in the face of ever increasing threats from without and within, then they have no idea of the emotional and thought processes of their fellow humans or of their perceptions of loyalty or betrayal.
I am dumbfounded at the naivety of people like Boris Johnson and Iain Duncan Smith.
Unity is strength.
International fraternity and co-operation is essential to our commercial and social survival.
