IT appears that the ongoing saga regarding Broadfield House is as far away from solution as ever.
It seems there are more questions than answers perhaps I could ask some of my own.
This area has been making and displaying fine glassware for a very long time so why do we need a consultancy to tell us how to do it?
Call me naive but surely you count the number of items concerned (call this a) work out the space available (call this b) and then, this is the tricky bit, see if a will go into b, simplistic I know but it works for me.
I also wonder why a consultancy firm from that well known glass centre Liverpool, perhaps we in turn could advise their council how best to display The Beatle artefacts I'm sure they would welcome our advice!
Dudley Council seems to have no respect or feeling for local issues, indeed when faced with a problem the answer seems to be a choice between knock it down – Brierley Hill Baths – shut it down – Coseley baths – or fill it up and shut it – Stourbridge Caves.
May I humbly point out that it is Stourbridge Glass that is world famous not Black Country or Dudley glass but Stourbridge Glass.
I feel this council does not value or appreciate this wonderful heritage or realise its worldwide fame.
In the case of Dudley Council big is certainly not beautiful as it has demonstrated by continually riding roughshod over local concerns and issues while seemingly impervious to any criticism.
In closing may I say I do not trust Dudley will do the right thing by our glass, however I would have more faith in a local Stourbridge Council – food for thought perhaps?
