Such memories

I HAVE just read your article about the retreat which was built for the children at my old school, Pedmore CofE. What a wonderful idea which other schools could follow.

I started my school life there in 1934.

My mother, then Annie Brett, started in 1896 and her mother, then Hannah around 1858.

How things must have changed over the years.

We had coal fires and toilets at the other side of the playground.

Every Monday morning the vicar, Rev Buchanon came in for prayers and Mr Evers-Swindell who lived on Redlake Road would come in to wind the school clock.

I have lived in Oldswinford for over 50 years now, but have many happy memories of Pedmore.

H Brett Molineux Oldswinford
