Foiled again!

10:00am Sunday 5th July 2009

MANY thanks to everyone who has been leaving their aluminium foil at Kingswinford and Wordsley Libraries over the last few years. All the money raised has gone to support the work of the 2nd Kingswinford Scout Group, so the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are very grateful for your efforts.

Expenses abuse undermines vital need

12:00pm Thursday 2nd July 2009

I WAS very surprised to hear Margot James effectively say, on a radio broadcast, that the MPs’ expenses furore was not an election issue, that Lynda Waltho’s expenses were nothing remarkable.

Give MPs’ expenses to NHS

1:00pm Tuesday 30th June 2009

I AM writing to you from another world. No, I’m still on this one, but just now I’m in Russells Hall hospital, which is really like another world on its own, where they are really looking after me. The staff I have met are all busy bees, not too busy to look after you, but if possible have a little chat, always a smile.

Hotspot for bad parking

4:00pm Monday 29th June 2009

KEEPING with the theme of recent letters regarding bad, thoughtless and selfish parking, have any parents of small children noticed how Sainsburys, Amblecote seems to be a hotspot for abuse of the 'Parent and Child' parking spaces? What is it with the users of this particular store? Sadly, although I can blame Sainsburys if their food or customer service is substandard, it isn't their problem if their customers are generally selfish, although they could patrol their parking facilities a bit more maybe? Sometimes it seems that almost 2 thirds of these spaces are taken by people who don't have children with them. People like me really appreciate these parking spaces as you need your wits about you carrying a heavy toddler into the supermarket when there are so many cars coming and going, and thats just the ones who are driving appropriately.

Return to the thefts

12:00pm Sunday 28th June 2009

We can all see how serious Gordon Brown is about the corruption and theft scandal.

Court action only answer!

12:00pm Saturday 27th June 2009

THE nation generally has long been inured to resignedly accepting Parliament, with honourable exceptions, as a body of self-serving, posturing, ineffectual mediocrities.

Fees not fair in this recession

12:00pm Friday 26th June 2009

I would like to complain about the recently attended Wordsley Festival on 13th June 2009.

ON Friday night, I was amongst the sell out crowd at the NIA to see the finalists of Britain’s Got Talent and what a wonderful show it was.

Is general election key to museum issue?

5:00pm Wednesday 24th June 2009

WITH the Westminster expenses debacle reflecting badly on politicians of all parties now is an ideal time to consider the ‘Westminster connection’ in the proposed closure of Broadfield House Glass Museum.

In defence of our maligned ‘snail’...

4:30pm Wednesday 24th June 2009

MRS S Rhodes of Amblecote in her letter “Snail rail...” has said a mouthful! We, the normally fearless engineers of Cradley Heath, the people behind the “Ice Cream Van” (railcar) which she dismisses so disparagingly, have been told we should be “never safe on the streets”. We would lie trembling in our beds if we weren’t so darn busy making products to customers around the world.

No-one’s on the fiddle here, sir

1:00pm Monday 22nd June 2009

Reasons are so clear

2:00pm Sunday 21st June 2009

WE see now, why MPs fought so hard to avoid having their expenses published.

Charity’s got it all!

9:00am Sunday 21st June 2009

I LIVE near Lichfield and regularly come to Stourbridge to visit a friend when I last came down, she was so excited about a new charity shop she had found.

Be proud of the Parry

Don’t pick on frugal Lynda!

11:00am Saturday 20th June 2009

DESPITE the well publicised gulf in both our political beliefs and the way in which Lap Dancing clubs are regulated I feel I must speak up for the Honourable Member for Stourbridge, Lynda Waltho.

Fun yes, fair? No!

3:00pm Friday 19th June 2009

LET me start by saying I'm not an old fuddy duddy or a kill joy in any way at all, But I would like to ask the people that organise the wordsley fun in the park event, Why the so called "fun fair" has to be a part of it?
