HALESOWEN swimmers failed to fire in the final of the Mercian Summer League.

They travelled to Nuneaton on Saturday, July 12 for the A final. With the top six sides in the league competing for honours it was going to be a tough night, especially as the club's 20 regional qualifiers were not eligible for selection in this competition.

It became clear early on that the team was going to struggle and spent most of the gala between fifth and sixth place.

The swimmers produced many fine individual performances and personal best times but were unable to improve their position and had to settle for a creditable sixth place overall in the league.

Individual wins were elusive with stars of the show Oliver Bradley-Wood grabbing a win in the freestyle and Robert Jennings in the butterfly.

Final point scores were City of Coventry 233, Leamington Spa 218, Stratford Sharks 192, Worcester 146, Kingsbury Aquarius 127 and Halesowen 126.
