STOURBRIDGE boss Gary Hackett believes it was the right time for influential midfielder Sean Geddes to move on from the club.

The playmaker and former captain, 22, joined Worcester City for a nominal fee on Tuesday after three seasons at the War Memorial Ground.

Hackett said: "The club decided it was time for Sean to move.

"He has been fantastic for us in the time he was here but sometimes a player's shelf life at a club comes to an end, that is the case with Sean.

"His contribution has been outstanding and I would like to thank him for that and wish him all the best for the future.

"There has been no falling out or a major issue, we just felt the time was right and moved to get a deal done quickly."

Geddes, a former Manchester United trainee who played in the same youth team as Danny Welbeck, joined Stourbridge after three years at Walsall.

He has been at the heart of the Glassboys' midfield and boasted an impressive goal return of 17, 18 and 28 respectively in the last three seasons.

After his departure he thanked the fans for their support.

"I will have good memories of my time at the club. I have loved every minute," he said.

"I would like to thank the fans for the support they have given me. Even when I wasn't playing at my best they were always great to me.

"I spoke to the management team and we agreed it was time for a different challenge.

"I think the club is in a very good place. Stourbridge is a great club that is going places and is very ambitious.

"The moved happened quite quickly but I was keen to go to Worcester when I heard they were interested."

Also leaving the Memorial ground this week was the long-serving Sam Rock.

On his departure, Hackett added: "Sam has been a great servant of the club and I would like to thank him for all his service and wish him well for the future."

Meanwhile, the Glassboys have moved quickly to bring in new additions. They have signed winger Peter Till from rivals Halesowen Town as well as box-to-box midfielder Josh Craddock from Rushall Olympic.

The Glassboys will travel to Market Drayton in the FA Cup this Saturday buoyed by Tuesday night 4-0 league victory over Belper Town.

In-form forward Luke Benbow, who scored all four goals in the game, will have a hamstring strain assessed ahead of this weekend's cup clash with Market Drayton.
