STOURBRIDGE lost their final match of the 2014 season against Tamworth ending hopes of a big finish.

The Memorial Ground outfit finished fourth after both Attock and Penkridge won their respective matches. Attock go up with Leamington Spa into Division Two of the Birmingham and District Premier league.

The performance against Tamworth was below par, bowled out in 25 overs in a 50-over match. Skipper Alex Bingham lost the toss , and the opposition gave his side a run around in the field. The opening pair Joshua Bennett and James Gray put on 65 for the first wicket. Gray was the first to go, caught off the bowling of Bilal Hassan for 38. Bennett and Jacob Flower took the score to 111 when Bennett was smartly run out direct hit by Bingham for 47.

This was the best phase of the game for Stour, leggie Audy Alexander taking the wicket of Stuart Burrows for just 1. With the total on 150 Jitesh Jivan – Patel had Jacob Flowers caught for 39. Keeping the run rate tight Stour took two further wickets but Tamworth ‘keeper Ben Maddox stayed in scoring 51 not out taking his side to safety.

Stour’s openers Alex Bingham and Steve Game played watchfully but their hard work was spoilt by the run out of Game to an accurate throw from the boundary. Stour did not recover from that point. The run-out incident was followed by a controversial caught behind decision of Alex Bingham for 9. Bingham stood his ground but was given out by the square leg umpire. Stour folded quickly, spinner James Gray doing the damage taking 5-20 off 6 overs.
