DIRECTOR of rugby Carl Douglas believes it's vital his Dudley Kingswinford players recapture a winning mentality as soon as possible.

DK will aim to secure their first victory in 38 league games when they take on fellow early season strugglers Burton at Heathbrook this Saturday.

Douglas said: "We need a win now. It doesn't matter if it's against Burton or anyone else in this league, though Saturday is a big opportunity for us.

"We have to make sure we string a good performance together.

"The players are working very hard in training and I believe they have the ability to win on Saturday. They need to believe in themselves and get used to winning again."

DK's last league win was a 14-12 away success against Luctonians on April 13, 2013.

Their disastrous run, which saw them relegated from National League Two North last season, continued away at Bromsgrove last Saturday.

They lost 50-15 at Finstall Park but did pick up their first point when a much-improved second half performance saw them go over twice in quick succession.

"The Bromsgrove game followed a similar pattern to our other games this season. There were a lot of positives but we couldn't put them all together," added Douglas.

"The challenge was always going to be rebuilding the playing side of the team after last season. I think we have some good players at the club that just need a little more belief in themselves."

Douglas said the club has a number of irons in the fire but has still had no joy adding new players to the squad after beginning a recruitment search last week.
