OLD Halesonians Hockey Club Men’s First XI fell to their second straight defeat away against South Nottingham.
Hales took control of the game early on and defended impeccably from the frontline. Striker Graham Knight came close to breaking the deadlock early on when his deft touch, drifted under the keeper and just wide of the post.
Hales did open the scoring when Paul Woodall found the net from a penalty corner. South Nottingham reacted well, and soon equalised before the half time break.
The second half saw Hales continue their excellent defensive work, but upfront they were unable to find another break through.
South Nottingham too had their chances, but some excellent saves from man of the match Steve Charlton (pictured) kept the scores level.
However, devastation hit Hales in the final two minutes when South Nottingham found the net to take a 2-1 win and all three points.
