MARTIN Thomas says his Lye Town squad is as strong as he's known it.

Lye are currently in seventh in the Premier Division of the Midland Football League after their promotion last season.

Thomas also said he and fellow joint-manager Darren Goodall have been delighted with the way a host a new arrivals have settled in at the club.

After letting some players leave for Tipton last month, the management duo at Stourbridge Road brought in the likes of Mark Danks and Tividale's Tom Overfield and Max

Bissell.

The squad is looking even stronger after Reece Shilvock returned to the club from Causeway United and Kevin Nickle came back from a loan spell with Smethwick.

Thomas said: "In all my time at the club, this current crop is the strongest I have known.

"We don't like to work with a large group but the players we have are a talented bunch.

"A pleasing thing has been the way the new additions have knitted into the side so well.

"Our main aim is to stay in the league, which we are close to doing, and then to go from there and see what we can do. It is a close division and anyone who can string a few results together will be right up there."

Town will welcome sixth-placed Quorn this Saturday as they look to build on a pleased season so far.

Lye have also been boosted with the news that both Ben Wilkins and James Spray are close to returning from injury.
