BOSS Ian Long says Tividale's next run of fixtures could lay the foundations for a play-off charge.

Tivi were due to welcome Romulus to The Beeches last night before embarking on a six-game spell where they will face sides in the bottom ten of Division One South of the Northern Premier League.

They will face both Goole and basement boys Brigg Town twice as well as home games against strugglers Rainworth Miners’ Welfare and Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Long said: "Our next six games could set up an exciting finish to the season. If we can get a big points haul then we could really gain some ground on the teams in and around the play-off places.

"That has to be our aim and there is no reason why we can't pick up some important points in the next few games.

"After that we will face clubs that will be challenging at the top of table or for the play-off place. Those games would become six-pointers and it would make things really interesting."

The Beeches boss was once more left frustrated by the weather when the home game against Goole was postponed after heavy rainfall last Saturday.

He added: “It was disappointing the game was called off on Saturday but we managed to train well.

"We must do something about the pitch. Hopefully the club will be able to find the funds to improve things over the summer."

Tivi have been boosted with the news that key men Zac Foster and Jordan Archer are back in contention following injury concerns.

Archer has stepped up well to lead the attack in recent weeks following the departure of Deqwon Ebanks.

New arrival Jamie King is also available to make his debut.

The 19-year-old has come in from AFC Wulfrunians after impressing throughout this season, scoring 17 goals so far from the left-wing position.

Long is pleased to have secured his signature.

“I’m delighted to welcome Jamie to the club. He is a very good wide player who predominantly plays on the left.

“His goalscoring ratio for a winger is very, very good and hopefully he will be able to bring that to Tividale.

“Jamie’s delivery from wide areas has caused opponents problems all season long in his respective league and we’ve missed a little bit of quality in recent weeks from that perspective.

“His arrival will also bring more balance to our squad.”
