DUDLEY Kingswinford director of rugby Carl Douglas says the club will be in a better place behind the scenes next season.

DK’s difficult season continued with a loss at Lichfield last Saturday, as they suffered their tenth defeat in succession when going down 69-18 to their ninth-place opposition.

However, Douglas says that summer changes will get the club heading back in the right direction.

“I have been aware of the changes required since around Christmas time and we will be looking to do that at the end of the season,” he said.

“We will get to a place where I believe we will be stronger in terms of infrastructure and our approach to rugby in general.”

Against Lichfield, DK conceded a try right on half time to give the hosts a 17-6 lead at the break, after Jamie Hearn had kept his side in touch with two penalties.

A spirited second half showing where DK bagged two tries of their own couldn’t prevent Lichfield from powering away.

“We were competitive at times and the forwards did a great job,” added Douglas. “But we aren’t consistent enough, that is a major issue for us and one we still need to put right.”

DK will now welcome Longton to Heathbrook this Saturday.
