GLASSBOYS boss Gary Hackett says Stourbridge's players are playing for their futures after derby day disappointment.

Stour put in a lacklustre performance as they lost 2-0 away at local rivals Halesowen Town on Easter Monday.

The defeat followed a 1-0 loss against Workington two days before.

Hackett said: "I learned a lot about certain individuals against Halesowen.

"You often find out more when you lose in that manner. The players are now playing for their futures at the club and they have already been told that.

"I know what needs to be done and there will be changes in the summer.

"The local derby means a lot and we massively under performed.

"I know it hurts the fans and it hurts me ten times as much. It was a dark day but one we have to put right."

A goal from Yeltz captain Joe Hull handed the hosts a 1-0 lead at the break. Iyseden Christie won and then converted a penalty early in the second half to help Hales towards a comfortable success.

"Before the game I was worried about the spine of the side with the way Halesowen approach the game," added Hackett. "That proved to be the case and I think we also missed Will Richards' aerial ability.

"That said, Halesowen applied themselves much better and deserved the win. From one to 11 they were better than us on the day.

"I feel under pressure but no more than any other manager would, " he added. "You are always under pressure to get results.

"However, this is the first time we have under performed in about 14 years."

Hackett also said that while changes may well be made for this Saturday's visit of Marine, a host of players will be handed a chance to bounce back from the derby day horror show.

"It won't be easy against Marine because they are fighting for their lives, " he said. "The players owe the fans after the Halesowen game and some will be given that opportunity to get Monday out of their system.

"There will be certain changes but we must look to right a few wrongs as soon as possible. I want to see a reaction."
