HOTSHOTS were most impressive in taking the team knock-out cup against West Midlands Police.

Richard Haney gave Hotshots a perfect start when he took brown as a free ball and cleared the last six reds and yellow for a break of 48, before clearing with 25 to win his frame by 97 points.

The Police’s Kev Franklin looked likely to match that result with a fine break of 44, but Jon Bate kept in touch, and Kev had to clear the last three balls to win by 33.

Luke Higginbotham then played really well against Maria Catalano, and cleared those all-important colours to win by 57, and Luke Garland was equally as good giving Gavin Sloan little chance with a break of 38, and a clearance of the colours to win by 62.

Callum Downing had the luxury of a 131 point lead, in sharp contrast to his last cup final appearance two years ago when he had to try to retrieve 132 points, and failed, heroically, when the final black jawed. Hotshots will have been disappointed to have lost the league by a single point but they were able to draw some consolation in taking the cup in such an authoritative manner.
