LYE Town boss Martin Thomas admits it's an exciting time for the club after their flying start to the season.

Brilliant Town hammered Brocton 5-0 away on the opening day of the Midland Football League's Premier Division last Saturday.

The side, managed jointly by Thomas and Darren Goodall, then backed that up with a 4-1 success at Westfields on Tuesday night.

Thomas said: "It is a very exciting time for the players, fans and the club and bodes well going forwards.

"Obviously we won't be getting carried away but we do need to enjoy such a good start.

"We will gain a lot of confidence and pick up better habits because of it.

"I would have taken a draw in the first game but we were brilliant. It was a superb team and individual performance and I even think we let them off a little at five.

"Then, on Tuesday night against Westfields, I thought a point would have been a decent outcome again. But we did the same and backed it up."

A hat-trick from James Spray and strikes from Tom Overfield and Simon Williams handed Lye the Brocton success.

Spray and Overfield were again on the scoresheet at Westfields three days later in a game that also saw a long range strike from Dan Taylor and substitute Sam Beasley.

Lye will be in FA Cup action this Saturday when they face Coventry Sphinx.

The game will take place at Bromsgrove Sporting's Victoria Ground after the cricket club decided not to allow the game to be played at Stourbridge Road due to a beer festival at the site.

Dan Flowers (thigh) and Ben Love (hamstring) will be assessed ahead of the weekend.

Thomas also confirmed he is still on the lookout for new players, with a defender and striker high on his wishlist.
