CRADLEY Town boss Mark Jones was disappointed the Hammers couldn't secure on opening day victory.
Town took a 2-0 lead against Bilston Town Community at The Beeches last Saturday but ended up drawing the contest.
Jones said: "It was disappointing not to get the three points and start with a win.
"Overall it was very encouraging and a performance that we can hopefully build on.
"The team hasn't been together for long and is still a bit of a work in progress."
The Hammers took the lead thanks to a Will Tibbetts header before Joe Lawley struck to double their advantage.
However, Bilston hit back before the break and eventually netted an equaliser with ten minutes left on the clock.
"Our challenge now is to kick on from here and show what we can do," added Jones.
"I think within a month we will be fully up and running and causing really problem. If we can turn our 30 minute spell into 60 or longer then we should be fine."
Cradley's opener also saw on loan Stourbridge attacker Ben Billingham back in competitive action on his road back from injury.
Cradley take on their tenants Black Country Rangers this Saturday.
