HALESOWEN Town’s players needs to keep confidence in their ability, says chairman Colin Brookes.

The Yeltz slipped to their third successive defeat with Tuesday night’s 3-1 home defeat against lowly Stamford.

Brookes says it will take Town’s new-look squad time to gel but insists they must believe in themselves while they wait for team cohesion.

He said: “It is clear that we are some way off where we want to be at the moment.

“One win will change everything and hopefully it won’t be long before the players gel and it all starts coming together for us.

“We have looked a little disjointed so far, but that is to be expected after so many changes over the summer.

“Against Stamford we only had Joe Hull from last season. That highlights more than anything that we will have to be patient.

“I think most fans understand that and will hopefully allow the players time to get used to each other.

“The players need to keep their heads up and have confidence in themselves. If they do that then it could click a lot quicker. Their work-rate can’t be faulted.

“Thankfully we took three points on the opening day of the season so aren’t too far off the pace.”

Hales went 3-0 down against Stamford after goals from Greg Smith and a double from Cameron Powell.

The Yeltz did hit a consolation thanks to substitute Aaron Griffith just past the hour mark but they couldn’t add to their tally.

That defeat followed last Saturday’s 1-0 away loss at Skelmersdale.

Hales will now look to end their run of defeats when they face Workington at The Grove this Saturday (3pm).

A trip to Sutton Coldfield Town on Bank Holiday Monday will quickly follow.
