CRADLEY Heathens will race again next season after securing a return to Wolverhampton's Monmore Green Stadium.

The news ends weeks of uncertainty over the future of the club who raced at Perry Barr this year.

Club chiefs are hoping fans will welcome the move as many found it tough commuting to Birmingham for home meetings after losing the use of Wolverhampton at the end of the 2014 season.

Heathens will race on alternate Mondays with Wolverhampton’s Elite League team also alternating.

And the move has been made possible by the addition of new club partner, Dr Rod Brooks.

Dr Brooks has joined the club as team partner and will be forging closer links between the team and Dudley Stroke Association, who are now Cradley’s official charity.

He said: “I was very keen to see Cradley continue, there is no denying the passion of the supporters, and I believe track sharing at Monmore works well as they are in a different league to Wolverhampton.

“I am keen to promote the F.A.S.T message through Dudley Stroke Association."

The news also sees Gary Patchett return to the club in a more hands-on role working alongside manager Will Pottinger.

He said: “We would like to thank Ladbrokes for their co-operation in bringing the Heathens back to Monmore – and to Chris Van Straaten at Wolverhampton Speedway for making it happen.

“Also to Dr Brooks for his support and the good people at Dudley Stroke Association, we offer our sincere thanks.

“Will and myself are now looking at options for the team, but until we know for sure the points limit we can’t really make any final decision on our 1to 7.”

Season ticket details are expected to be revealed next week with pre-Christmas prices available for presents.

But there is no doubt the biggest present of all has been handed to Heathens fans with the news the club survives.
