BLACK Country Triathletes are set to hold an adult and junior aquathlon event next month.

Anyone who fancies having a go at being the next Alistair Brownlee or Jodie Stimpson are being invited to attend.

It will be on Saturday, March 12, and is open to all abilities. An aquathlon combines swimming and running in one event but doesn’t include the bike element that a triathlon would.

The adult event is new in the race series for this year and involves a 400m swim in Wombourne Leisure Centre pool before a 5k run along the railway walk and back.

Various distances apply to the junior races but all involve a pool swim (50m for eight year olds and up to 400m for 15 and 16 year olds), and a fully supervised run either on the playing fields or along the railway walk.

Run distances are between 600m and 4000m depending on age. Junior age groups available from 8-16 yrs, age as of 31/12/16.

Registration opens at 12noon with the adult race starting at 1.30pm followed by the junior races from 2.30pm.

Full details can be found at blackcountrytriathletes.com and online entry is via entrycentral.com. Entries must be received by March 5.

The new event has been introduced in addition to the club’s Splash and Dash aquathlon in December.

Black Country Triathletes offer adult, junior and family membership which include coached swim sessions, junior training and coached run and cycle sessions.
