KINGSWINFORD Swan secured cup joy as they overcame Charlton House in Dudley and Cradley League's Joe Stanton Memorial Trophy final last Sunday.

On a hard and uneven pitch it took 10 minutes for both teams to settle down, both creating half chances but no real openings of note.

Charlton House started to put the pressure on the Kingswinford defence and wasted two corners before they were awarded a penalty on 22 minutes.

Andy Parsons stepped up and made no mistake to break the deadlock.

Kingswinford equalised on 35 minutes when Liam Hickman headed home a Steve Phillips cross before bagging a lead before the break when Andy Hemmings headed past keeper Dave Homer.

The second half started slowly as the rain started to fall.

Charlton House had a good chance at the start of the second period that was tipped on to the bar and over by Darren Lane in the Kingswinford goal.

The close encounter continued until the 75th minute when a shot from the left by Steve Hathaway beat the defence and Homer in the Charlton goal to hand Swan a two-goal cushion.

Both teams kept pressing in the last ten minutes but neither created any real chances and Kingswinford came out on top.

Meanwhile, in the league's Premier Division, Hasbury Colts beat Wollaston Harriers 3-1 and Phoenix secured a 1-0 win at Roebuck.

There was also cup joy last week for AFC Turners.

They took the Ray Turley Memorial Competition with a 7-3 success against Charlton House last Friday.

On a Cold evening it took both teams time to settle down in what was going to be a very tight first half.

Charlton House got the first real chance on five minutes when a corner was headed wide.

Then, on 8 minutes, man of the match Jason Chilton broke down the left and sent in a pin-point cross that was collected and volleyed into to the net by Lee Chilton to hand Turners a lead.

Paul Yates reacted quickest in the box on 22 minutes to equalise for Charlton as the game came to life.

Undeterred, Turners got their noses in front once more when Kiel Williams headed in a corner.

The clash continued to swing on way then the other and once more saw Charlton on level terms five minutes before the break. Wayne Marsh finished well after a Paul Yates thunderbolt was saved by Mark Garvey in the AFC Turners' goal.

Then, with the watch showing it was almost half time, Geoff Hill broke down the AFC Turners right and from an acute angle just outside the box fired in a speculative shot that flew into the far top corner of the net to hand his side a lead for the third time.

There was to be no comeback in the second half for Charlton.

Lee Chilton hit two others to complete his hat-trick to put Turners well ahead before hitting a fourth to hand them a 6-2 lead.

Adam Raybould pulled one back before Chilton struck again to wrap up proceedings.
