STOURBRIDGE bagged their first win of the season with success against Harborne last Saturday.

Skipper Matt Bradley (53) top scored with the bat for his side as they wrapped up a much-needed five-wicket win at the War Memorial Ground.

Harbourne made 154-9 despite winning the toss and choosing to bat first at Amblecote.

Openers Simon Harding (7) and Tom Arnold (3) were bowled by Zain Ul Hassen and Umar Khalid respectively, as the hosts made a brilliant start.

Alex Pyecroft’s 45 runs from 45 balls offered some resistance before he was caught off the bowling of Tarryck Gabriel.

In reply, Stour also lost an opener cheaply as Alex Bingham was dismissed for four by Pyecroft, who went on to claim the wickets of Josh Banks (11) and Gabriel (6) – all off venomous deliveries .

However, Harshad Patel’s 44 handed Stour a solid base for victory before Bradley guided them home for the loss of just five wickets by the 42nd over.

Stourbridge, who sit bottom of Division Two, will look to build on their first win when welcoming second-from-bottom Penkridge this Saturday (noon).
