STOURBRIDGE welterweight Sam Eggington is out to remind fight fans of his brilliant potential when he hits the comeback trail at the end of the month.

Eggington says opponent Daza Usher will feel the full force of his frustration as he looks to bounce back to winning ways on Matchroom's Leeds Rumble show on July 30.

The fighter from Birmingham's Eastside gym was last seen losing his British title with a points defeat against Bradley Skeet in front of his home city crowd last year.

Eggington begins his climb back up the ranks with an under-card slot in support of Josh Warrington's WBC International Featherweight title defence against Patrick Hyland.

He said: "He will feel the frustration I have after my last defeat.

"I won't go in there and try to pinch rounds. I will just do what I normally do and try to end it early.

"I'm not nervous because of my last defeat. It was a decision after 12 rounds and these things happen in boxing.

"Now it's all about getting back to winning ways and then just seeing what comes next. If I start winning fights again in the right manner then things we start to happen. I won't say no to any fight.

"My preparation has gone really well. I have had some quality sparring sessions this time around, which was just what I needed."

The welterweight says there is also added incentive to power past Usher after his opponent stopped fellow Eastside fighter Karl Wiggins in 2015.

"I want to go out there and get some revenge for the gym as well," he added.

"I know a bit about him because of that fight and want to put the record straight for the gym."

Eggington, who will face six, three minute rounds in Leeds, also thinks he has learned a lot about himself as a fighter after the Skeet defeat.

"I think I was just way too relaxed, too cocksure," he said.

"I went into the fight, in front of my own fans, and just thought everything would fall into place. Maybe if the fight had been in London I would have approached it differently.

"I do know that I won't be taking anything for granted again."
