DUDLEY Town boss Andy Allardice thinks his side will find consistency when he can start naming a regular side.

The Robins have been dogged by a host of early-season injuries and absences, especially in the goalkeeping department.

It has meant that Allardice has struggled to field the same side from one week to the next.

They lost 2-1 at Shifnal Town last Saturday as they failed to back up last week’s fine 5-0 success at Gornal Athletic.

It is that inconsistency that the boss is hoping to resolve.

He said: “We have struggled to find consistency so far this season but a lot of that can be put down to the fact we haven’t been able to put out the same side.

“We are doing well at times but just need to get our best team together.”

The Robins fielded new keeper Adam Marusiak against Gornal but he too picked up an injury. It meant that Ash Horton had to come in against Shifnal to further highlight Town’s troubles with injury.

Against Shifnal, the hosts took a 2-0 lead in the second half before Shawn Devonport pulled one back with 25 minutes left on the clock.

“We could have gone on and picked up a point, which I think would have been a fair result,” added Allardice.

Town will have a break from league action this Saturday when they welcome Wellington Amateurs to the Dell in the FA Vase (3pm).

Meanwhile, Dudley Sports suffered back-to-back defeats with a 2-0 loss at Wellington.

Sports, who sit third from bottom in the West Midlands Premier after six games, will look to get back to winning ways when they go to Wolverhampton Casuals this Saturday.
