NEWCOMERS FC Premier look determined the figure among the contenders for the Beacon Sunday League crown after chalking up their fourth league win in six this week.

They were involved in a ding-dong battle against a strong Codsall Station side and ran out impressive 5-3 victors as Kyle Thorp (two), Andy Day, Elliott Milward and Sam Shaw made it a nap hand.

Codsall, who cut the deficit on three occasions, pushed FC Premier all the way with efforts from Tony Turner (two) and Dom Leeson. FC Premier, who have played a game more, are a now level on points with leaders Dynamo Dudley and Pensnett Panthers.

While Dynamo's fixture at home to Island Inn was postponed following Island Inn's resignation from the league, the Panthers marched on with a fourth league success in five, hitting back to sink early season front runners Claregate Park Rangers 3-1.

Rod Williams fired Claregate into an early lead before Ryan Cartwright levelled for the Panthers, who went on to collect maximum points thanks to a Steve Jeavons brace.

Old Cross Athletic remain the only unbeaten side in the league after recording their third win in four, hitting Pensnett Youth 7-0 with new signing Sam Yeboah netting a fine double. He was well supported by James Lunn two, Ashley Thompson, Nathan Barrett and Jared Kelley.

New boys Whitmore Reans kept up their good start to life in the Beacon league when making it four games undefeated, hitting Wyley Targaryen's 6-1, as Saman Sorchi and Karzan Abdullah bagged doubles. Wyra Muhammad and an own goal made it six of the best, while Nathan Myles replied. Whitmore are just one point down on the leading pack.

On the goal trail were Black Country Fusion as they soundly defeated Pendeford 8-0, with Ashley Edwards (three) and Dom Lathan (two) leading the way. The scoring was rounded off by Shane Wellsbury, Chris Davies and Larry Adejadu.

There was a second league triumph for Springvale Steelers as they edged home 3-2 at home to Shere Punjab. Ryan Read (two) and Mitch Pinson struck for the Steelers, with Curtis Lee and Samranjote Batth responding.

Old Bush chalked up a welcome victory as they triumphed 5-2 at home to Sandwell Action. Sharing the goals for the Bush were Luke Speed, Matt Hollis, Dave Jones, Ross Brummell and Lee Chance, while Adam Skelton struck a double in reply.
