CRADLEY Town climbed out of the bottom two after clawing out a 3-2 win over Wellington Amateurs in West Midlands League Premier Division.

In what proved a remarkable contest, Wellington had goalkeeper Ryan Cheshire sent off within 30 seconds of the kick off after he was judged to have handled outside his area to prevent Cradley’s Geoff Hill from connecting with a scoring opportunity.

Thankfully for Wellington they had replacement goalkeeper Ben Czcrepaninec on the bench.

But despite this immediate setback, Wellington then shocked Cradley by taking a 2-0 lead inside the opening 19 minutes.

Jamie Bloor bagged both goals, intercepting an understruck back pass for the first before hammering in a second with a sensational shot.

Cradley’s afternoon went from bad to worse when Danny Crudgington failed to covert a 49th minute penalty after Geoff Hill had been tripped.

Crudgington atoned in the 53rd minute when he pulled a goal back after being set up by Hill.

Charlie Gregg then levelled matters on 75 minutes before Will Tibbetts walloped home Cradley’s winner with just two minutes remaining.

The Hammers are at home on Saturday at The Beeches against Dudley Sports.

The clash is set to be a ‘six-pointer’ with Cradley lying 16th and Dudley Sports 19th in the division.

The team will be hoping to continue the good form under Andy Wyton who took sole control of the team after Mark Jones left as joint-manager last week.
