Nantwich Town 1 Stourbridge 3

SUPER Stourbridge produced a dominant display to see off ten-man Nantwich and book their place in the FA Cup First Round Proper.

Leon Broadhurst struck twice for Gary Hackett’s team with Luke Benbow completing the scoring before the Dabbers hit back from the penalty spot.

The only blot on the South Cheshire landscape for the Glassboys was when substitute Justin Richards was stretchered off in stoppage-time with a suspected dislocated knee.

All the goals came in a pulsating first half which saw Stourbridge sweep into a three-goal lead. It took just eight minutes before Broadhurst ghosted into the box and headed home Chris Lait’s teasing left-wing cross to the far post for the opener.

Just after the half-hour mark, it was 2-0 when striker Benbow blasted home a loose ball following a fine move down the right between skipper Tom Tonks and Matt Dodd.

Just three minutes later, it was 3-0 when Broadhurst was on hand once again to volley home after the Dabbers failed to clear Lait’s corner from the left.

Stour keeper Matt Gould did well to hold on to a fiercely-struck drive from Nantwich striker Sean Cooke before the home side pulled a goal back from the penalty spot, Josh Hancock giving Gould no chance with a thunderous spot-kick after Cooke had been upended in the box.

But the home side suffered a hammer-blow when skipper Sam Hall saw red after picking up a second yellow card.
