National League Division 2 North:
Preston Grasshoppers 15, Stourbridge 26
STOUR finally brought their six match losing streak to a welcome halt with a bonus point win at bottom side Preston.
Neil Mitchell's men had to come from behind at the break but gradually got on top as the second half unfolded.
Preston plundered an opening try after 10 minutes when flanker Sam Gayle crossed for a try which fly half Lewis Allen converted.
Stour struck back four minutes later when right wing Joe Bridger raced over to score with fly half Chris Scott converting to level the scores at 7-7.
Preston hit back to regain the lead just before half time when Stour left wing Dan Rundle was dealt a yellow card for an alleged high tackle enabling Allen to slot over the resulting penalty and put Preston 10-7 ahead by half time.
Despite being down to 14 players, Stour snapped up a second try.
They kicked a penalty into the corner and then from the resulting line-out produced a series of pick-up and drives which eventually saw back row player Nigel Mukarati force his way over for replacement fly half Luke White to convert.
Preston responded and went back into the lead at 15-14 with an unconverted try from former Stour second row player Chris Roddy after the ball had been flung out wide to him.
Stour came storming back and secured a third try when Ciaran Moore broke from the base of a scrum and surged forward before setting up Nathan Tilsley, who wriggled his way past two attempted tackles to score before White converted.
Fired-up Stour pressed home the advantage with a fourth try with just three minutes remaining.
Joe Bridger was the victim of a high tackle which resulted with Preston's ranks being reduced.
The resulting penalty was again kicked into the corner where second row Chris Depper was driven over from the following line-out to complete a well deserved win.
