DISAPPOINTED Glassboys boss Gary Hackett admits Spennymoor Town were the better team on the day after his side's play-off final defeat.

Robert Ramshaw's first half strike enough to win it for the home side but Stour failed to get going until the dying moments.

Ramshaw netted on 29 minutes despite calls for handball from the Stourbridge players.

But Hackett admits Spennymoor deserved to win on the day. He said: "It is particularly disappointing because you know what's at stake for the winners.

"Fair play to Spennymoor, over the game they deserved it.

"It's very difficult to take. We've had some great times this season with enormous highs but this is a low.

"Spennymoor were better than us today. We didn't turn up as I would have wanted but then at the end their keeper has had to make some amazing saves.

"I would love to see the incident (goal) again. It looked like handball but I don't want to point out the referee even though he didn't do great today.

"We didn't play as well as I'd have liked but you have to give credit to the opposition sometimes and they were slightly better than us.

"It's been an amazing season but today is not a time for deep reflection because there is too much raw emotion. I feel it and I'm absolutely gutted."

The boss was also keen to praise the travelling support that made the long journey to County Durham.

He added: "The support has been amazing. To make the journey they did at very short notice and give the support they did was incredible.

"The players and management share their emotion. We have been the best supported team this season and I hope they can stick with us.

"We've had a low today but I know they'll be some major highs to come.

"You have to believe you can bounce back. We've come so close. We all know the difficulties we have experienced with injuries since the Wycombe game but it's been a good season.

"Without doubt this football club is moving in the right direction."
