STOURBRIDGE bagged another five-points in National 2 North with a win against bottom side Wharfedale in a highly entertaining clash at Stourton Park.

The visitors drew first blood with a quick break from halfway which put full-back Tom Mann in for a try which was converted by Tom Barrett.

Wharfedale had the best of the early minutes, looking dangerous on the break they added to their tally with a Barrett penalty on 16 minutes.

Stour found their feet and began to apply some pressure but a string errors cost them when points were on offer from attacking moves.

The introduction of the in form hooker Jack Lea and fellow front row Chad Thorne added power to the pack and Stour eventually got their reward.

Pressure paid off and Nick Murphy crossed the whitewash, Rob Forbes converted to make the score at the break 7-10.

The second half began with a yellow card for Wharfedale’s Rhys Lovegrove and Stour quickly capitalised when Lea powered forward to feed Nick David for a try in the corner.

Barrett hit back for the visitors with a drop goal to show they were not giving anything away but Lea was on hand after pressure on the away 5m line to add to his try tally for the season and Forbes converted.

Despite continued sloppy passing by Stour the tide appeared to be turning their way and a terrific interception by Josh Trinham on halfway allowed him to charge in under the posts, Nick David converted.

Wharfedale continued to attack and Oliver Cicognini ran in from the 22 for a score in the corner.

Stour pushed forward in the final minutes and a penalty from David on 77 minutes made the final score 29-18.
