STOURBRIDGE were left with just a losing bonus point from their final away match of the season despite an early lead at Macclesfield.

With two minutes gone a Robbie Forbes penalty hit the post however the visitors did not have to wait long for their first score.

After a further minute Macclesfield were penalised for a high tackle and from the lineout catch and drive a Rod Petty pass found Hal Riley who crossed the line, Forbes added the extras.

From the restart Stour full-back Joe Heatley ran 40 metres to put his team on the front foot which resulted in a try for Stef Thorp and another conversion for Forbes with nine minutes gone.

The hosts hit back after Stour were caught offside and the penalty found touch, from the lineout Dan Lomax ran in from wide right for the first of his three tries and Lewis Barker converted.

Following another penalty, pressure on the Stour line was too much and centre Sam Broster dashed over from short range.

Macclesfield took the lead three minutes later when Lomax crossed for the second time despite Stourbridge claims teh attack included an illegal forward pass.

Barker converted and five minutes later Macclesfield secured the bonus point when scrum-half Nick Allsop added another try along with a Barker conversion after Stour were reduced to 14 men following a yellow card for Rod Petty.

The Black Country team finished the half brightly when Joe Heatley ran in from 20 metres after Niall Gibbons collected a clearance kick from the Macclesfield defence.

Forbes added another two points to make the score at half time 26-21.

Macclesfield came out with all guns blazing and their expansive game with quick offloads started to sap the Stour defence. It took just three minutes for Barker to score his second try which he then converted.

The game was all but over on 50 minutes when Lomax hit his third try, again as a result of a Stour infringement for being off their feet in a ruck.

Barker’s conversion opened up a 19 point gap but Stourbridge fought back, Healtey, Forbes and Riley combined in attack to put George Morgan in for a try which Forbes converted.

The prolific Barker added a penalty and Miles Hall added a try for Macclesfield to stretch their lead after Stour were again reduced to 14 when Heatley was sin-billed for a tackling offence.

Barker was again on target with his conversion but again Stour were to have the final word with a try for Nick Murphy after Petty's quick thinking created an opportunity.

The try was the last score and the game finished as the conversion attempt was missed to make the final score 50-33 to Macclesfield.
