FUNDRAISING for the Stourbridge News Well of Life appeal continues this weekend as we host another African themed event day, this time in the Crown Centre.

Between 10am and 4pm tomorrow (June 27) – outside of the Tesco store – the town centre complex will host a variety of stalls, fun and games to add much needed funds to the appeal, which is tantalisingly close to reaching its target.

Our appeal, in conjunction with Ridgewood High School’s Project Gambia initiative, aims to raise £10,000 for a water pump and irrigation system to serve the drought-stricken Gambian village of Sintet.

African themed music, stalls and activities will help set the scene for customers to get in the fundraising spirit.

Tombolas, charity shops, games including a bottle hoop, as well as African drumming, singing and dancing are among the activities that will feature.

All activities taking place on Saturday will help raise cash for the appeal which has so far reached a total of £8,774.

Together with the event day, members of C Sharp Music School in Stourbridge will be out busking in the Ryemarket Shopping Centre.

Debbie Foxall, teacher at the school, said: “We have seen a lot about the appeal in the paper and a number of our music school students are also pupils of Ridgewood High School.

“Many of them have been involved with Project Gambia and have been out to Africa as part of the project, so we thought it would be nice to put our support behind them.”

Students will be playing guitars, keyboards and pianos between noon and 2pm in their quest to raise as much money as possible for the appeal.
