THIRTY years after hanging up their blazers and burning their ties, a group of former Stourbridge students are preparing to reunite with their old classmates.

A number of pupils from Redhill School’s class of '86 are set to celebrate their five years at the Junction Road institution on Friday, June 17.

But reunion organisers are still on the hunt for ex-Redhillians to attend the Sadler’s Brewhouse and Bar event.

Craig Lees, one of the organisers, said: “It’s 30 years since the class of 1986 left Redhill School, however we’ve always stayed tied together as we had a fabulous five years there.

“The reunion will give us a chance to share our memories and meet up once again. We also plan to raise a glass to one of our old school friends Shaun Taylor – ‘Porky’ to his mates – who we lost, aged 20, in the first gulf war in February 1991.

“All ex-Redhillians of 1986, including teaching staff, their friends and family, are welcome.”

As part of the reunion event, money is going to be raised for the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) in Shaun’s memory.
