PEDMORE Technology College has become one of only a handful of borough schools to receive recognition for promoting Olympic and Paralympic values of qualitities such as respect, inspiration and equality.
The Grange Lane school has become a member of London 2012’s Get Set network, a community of schools and colleges which will receive access to 2012 Games related opportunities.
For signing up to the London 2012 education programme, the school has scooped a plaque and certificate from The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
It has also been named the only school in the West Midlands to be a winner in the National School Sport Week Competition for its planning of The Stourbridge Educational Trust’s forthcoming inter-schools TSET Olympics event taking place at Himley Hall on June 19 and Brierley Hill’s Dell Sports Stadium on June 21.
Principal David Kemp, chairman of TSET, said: “We are delighted to gain national recognition for our efforts.
“The Get Set programme extends far beyond PE and sport and I hope we will motivate other young people to join the journey.”
