STOURBRIDGE MP Lynda Waltho has welcomed further changes being made to help more first-time buyers afford a home.
The Government has already announced £679 million of funding for affordable housing in the region and the Housing Corporation will soon announce locations for new affordable homes.
Lynda said: "This simplification of the rules around shared ownership schemes will help key workers in Stourbridge, such as nurses and teachers, to get on the property ladder.
"There is a new awareness raising campaign aimed at key workers which will provide information directly to schools, hospitals and the fire and police services to let them know exactly what the scheme entitles them to and make it simpler for them to apply.
"Furthermore, new national criteria will give key workers an automatic right to apply for the shared ownership scheme.
"Up to now, they had to meet conditions set by the Regional Assembly to qualify for the scheme."
